Close Encounters of the Global Kind
Pocatello United Methodist Church

Upcoming Presentations

The series is currently on sabbatical

As we engage peoples and cultures around the globe on television, online and in person, the following questions confront persons of faith:
Why should we even know about other countries?
What is meant by globalization?
How does globalization affect traditional cultures and the economies and political systems of the various countries of the world?
What are the tensions and dynamics between globalization and traditional cultures?
How are religious sentiments an integral part of the cultural matrix of these countries?

Close Encounters of the Global Kind invites presenters with personal experience in cultures and countries around the world to share their knowledge and perspectives with the church and greater Pocatello community.

All presentations are in the Fireside Room unless indicated otherwise.
